The short version

Privacy, simply.

SpotiPair does not need an account and does not collect analytics. Music is sent only between the Macs you connect.

Music

The host Mac sends Spotify audio to the Macs that join the room on the same Wi-Fi. Guest Macs do not open or control Spotify. Use SpotiPair only on a network you trust.

Internet requests

SpotiPair may load album artwork from a link provided by Spotify. It also checks releases.spotipair.com for updates. Downloads come from GitHub Releases. Those services may see your IP address and app details. GitHub provides an aggregate count for each downloaded file; SpotiPair does not receive the downloader's identity. Those services do not receive your music.

Permissions

Listening Macs need Local Network access. A host additionally needs Spotify Automation and System Audio Recording. SpotiPair asks only when you use the feature that needs it.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics stay on your Macs. SpotiPair does not send them automatically. A report leaves your Mac only when you copy and share it.
